A charity box or gate latch needs a very different level of security chain to a high-value motorcycle stored overnight in an urban area. Available sleeved and unsleeved, and Sold Secure Motorcycle Gold rated, these heavy duty security chains are manufactured with square-link construction and multiple heat treatment stages, creating a chain that resists attack from both hacksaws and bolt cutters far more effectively than standard round-link alternatives. The tapering link section - wider on the outside, narrower at the gripping point - specifically defeats the jaw purchase that cutting tools rely on. Our Superquad security chain and lock bundle pairs the chain with a 65mm close shackle steel padlock to provide a complete, matched system.

For applications where a mid-range secure chain is sufficient - securing garden machinery, trailers, caravans, site equipment, or industrial plant - our Stronglink security chain and Quadlink sleeved chain options provide a strong step up from general welded steel without the cost of top-tier motorcycle-spec chain. The Quadlink chain includes a protective plastic sleeve that guards both the chain and any paintwork or surfaces it contacts, making it a practical choice wherever the chain will be in regular use against a vehicle or finish.

A security chain is only ever one part of a three-component system. The chain provides the link between two points, but a secure chain system also requires a quality padlock and a properly fitted anchor point. A top-rated heavy duty security chain padlocked to a ring on plate mounted with inadequate screws into crumbling brickwork offers little real protection. Equally, a well-installed anchor bolt paired with a basic chain defeats the purpose of the investment.

Stainless Steel Security Chain

For marine, coastal, and outdoor environments where long-term corrosion resistance is as important as attack resistance, stainless steel security chain is the correct specification. Our stainless steel chain range, available separately, provides the tensile strength and environmental durability needed for boat mooring, marina security, harbour-side installations, and any setting where a galvanised or zinc-plated chain would degrade unacceptably over time. A stainless steel security chain used alongside a marine-grade padlock and stainless fixing plate creates a weather-resistant system that maintains its integrity over years of exposure.

Security Ropes and Chains

Where flexibility or weight is a consideration alongside security - for bicycles, lightweight equipment, or temporary cordoning - security cables and ropes complement the chain range. Our separate security cables section covers braided steel options for lower-risk applications. For anything where genuine resistance to cutting tools is needed, a steel security chain remains the correct choice over rope or cable alternatives. Rope does not resist cutting in the way that hardened steel chain does, and should be used as a safety chain or tethering solution rather than as primary anti-theft security.
